Happy August!

As we enter the last month of summer, the museum staff wanted to post this postcard of the Nansemond Hotel. A crowning jewel in Ocean View's tourist scene, the hotel most notably served as the spot in 1942 where Operation Torch was formulated. Unfortunately, the Nansemond was sub...

As we enter the last week of July, the museum wanted to acknowledge that yesterday, Sunday July 28th was Parents' Day. Remember to thank your parents for all they do. Have a happy rest of July.

We hope everyone is having a fun and safe July.

This Thursday (7/25) is National Intern Day, and while we don't have any interns working at the museum we want to give a shout-out this week to all interns. They are the unsung heroes of institutions and companies.

We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day.

As July continues, the museum staff wanted to post this photograph to keep with the summer spirit.

Happy July!

Attention:
The museum will be closed this Thursday and Friday, July 4th & 5th, in observance of Independence Day.

(Photograph shows a crowd enjoying a hot July 4th holiday at the Ocean View Beach. Date is unknown, perhaps mid 20th Century).

We hope all the fathers had a great Fathers' Day.

This is a very small museum packed with all the history of Ocean View. If you've ever wanted to know anything about this district I highly recommend you stop by for a visit. The curator, Charles is a very nice and knowledgeable man. He can answer any questions you may have. I will be going back from time to time get a bit more knowledge of Ocean View!

If you have an hour to burn or if you would like to learn the history of Ocean View, I would HIGHLY recommend taking a trip to this free venue. The space is actually fairly small but is full of information. We were there for about an hour and looked at all the pictures, artworks, and historical information on display; but there is easily another few days worth of reading material and pictures available in books that are there to view. The complete history of Ocean View is actually fascinating and, as I said before, recommend this place entirely. The staff is always happy to answer any questions and offer even more information than what is available in the exhibits. They also have plenty of shirts and stickers available for sale.

A hidden Jem, see the history of Ocean View of things from the past. As a resident it's a helpful resource of what was adding to the understanding of how and why . Alot of history.
